PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has bestowed the honour of official funerals on more Namibians who passed away in the midst of the current COVID-19 storm.
A spate of deaths among senior government officials and other public office bearers has seen a series of state and official funerals being conferred on the departed by the Namibian Head of State.
President Geingob on Tuesday also declared the late Ngarikutuke Tjiriange and Zedikia Ngavirue as National Heroes.
According to a statement issued by the Namibian Presidency, Official Funerals were bestowed on the late Priscilla Kavita, Nekale Leo Mweshilengelwa, Bernadinus Petrus Shekutamba, and the late Colonel Gallen Mazila Kolokwe.
Kavita passed away on 23 June, Mweshilengelwa on 28 June, Shekutamba on 1 July, and Colonel Kolokwe passed away on 24 June.
According to the statement, the remains of the late Kavita, Mweshilengelwa, Shekutamba and Kolokwe will be interred on a date and place to be agreed to in consultation with their families.
Geingob extended deepest condolences and sympathies to the families, friends and comrades of the departed.
