JONAS Junias Jonas, the 27-year-old Namibian golden star boxer who spent a month in prison for attempted murder, assault and obstruction of justice, was today granted bail in the amount of N$5,000 at the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court.
His bail was granted by magistrate Conchita Olivier.
The attempted murder charge was filed after Jonas reportedly stabbed a man in the head.
Later that same day, police officers allegedly found the boxer and his friends breaking the national Covid-19 curfew, which applies from 22h00.
Upon instructions to go home, Jonas reportedly refused and subsequently assaulted a police officer.
At the time, the said police officers did not know about the assault Jonas was involved in earlier in the day.
A week before his arrest, Jonas returned from Ukraine where he won a gold medal in the 63kg category at the International Manger Memorial Tournament.
