NORED continues to invest in the education of many children by awarding bursaries amounting to N$460 000, to ensure that education is available to everyone, regardless of their social backgrounds.
The company officially awarded this year bursaries to three students on the occasion held at Ondangwa on Tuesday.
Those who benefitted from the NORED scheme are Tanyareo Mutelembi doing a bachelor of computer science at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. While the other two from the University of Namibia doing a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering are George Thindhimba and Lahja Amadhila.
NORED has been awarding bursaries to deserving students from all walks of life since the inception of their bursary scheme in 2017.
Chief Executive Officer of NORED Fillemon Nakashole, said this year’s beneficiaries will join a list of six undergraduate students currently holding the valuable bursaries.
According to Nakashole, NORED has prioritized the education of the youth by awarding them bursaries that cover full university tuition and accommodation expenses in order for them to pursue their dreams in their chosen fields of studies.
He indicated that many of the people were not spree by the outbreak of COVID-19, which affected the economies in the world. Thus, on this basis, NORED decided to support needy students who would otherwise not be able to further their studies upon matriculation.
“This is to ensure that the young people of Namibia are educated and skilled regardless of their social backgrounds,” he said.
Nakashole pointed out that they are currently exploring the idea of introducing a graduate trainee programme aimed at absorbing these students, with three possibilities of integrating them fully to form part of the NORED workforce.
Speaking at the same occasion deputy dean of UNAM for Facility of Engineering and IT, doctor Fillemon Nangolo, noted that they are pleased to see that NORED having remain committed to capacity building and uphold to it social responsibilities investing in the education of a Namibian child.
He then urged the beneficiaries to remain committed and put more effort into their studies.
