FARMERS in Northern Namibia are preparing to harvest their crops after a good rainy season.
At the same time, residents of the southern parts of the country are getting ready for what might seem to be an early onset of winter after overnight temperatures started dropping quite significantly over the past few days.
The Namibia Meteorological Service has issued warnings that morning temperatures might dip below the freezing point and the residents and farmers should take the necessary precautions.
According to the meteorological service, the colder mornings will be followed by warm temperatures during the day and residents in the interior can expect sunny weather conditions.

At the coast, partly cloudy and mild weather conditions are predicted for the southern part of the coast while further north residents can expect warm to hot weather with sunshine throughout the day.
Although some farmers in the North lost their crops to large swarms of locusts most were spared the scourge and people are now preparing to bring in their crops.
In the North, the temperatures are still in the upper twenties and people are preparing to bring in their crops.
As per their tradition farmers are weaving Eshisha which they will use as silos to store their mahangu and sorghum that will be thrashed after the harvest. Eshisha are large baskets made from young tree branches and bark and when finished it is placed on wooden frames to elevate it from the ground to keep mice and other scavengers at bay.
