INVESTIGATIONS into a matter in which an intern medical practitioner stationed at the Katutura State Hospital is accused of raping a sedated patient have not yet been completed yet.
When he made another brief court appearance where he sought to formally apply for bail, the 27-year-old Dennis Noa was informed about the state of the investigation.
The layers representing Noa and the state prosecutor, however, agreed to schedule a formal bail application for 28 May 2021.
Noa, who is detained at the Seeis Police Station, stands accused of raping an 18-year-old male patient who was kept under sedation while receiving treatment for head injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident.
The state is objecting to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offense, fear that the accused person might abscond and not stand trial, that bail would interfere with the administration of justice, and that the relative freedom of the accused person will not be in the interest of the public.
