THE Namibian Police in the Oshikoto Region is looking for a gang of armed robbers that are terrorizing business owners up and down the B1 road in the North.
The brazen armed robbers swooped in on Tuna Autospares at Onethindi near Onayena On Wednesday where they tortured an employee with a knife until they eventually managed to steal N$11 263 in cash as well as three mobile phones.
According to the incident report provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police, the robbery occurred at about 16:15 on Wednesday at the auto spares business that is owned by a Nigerian national.
“Three men of which two were armed with pistols and one with a knife, entered the shop and jumped over the service counter. They held the employee at gunpoint while demanding that he open the safe,” the statement reads.
According to the report, when the 25-year-old counter salesman did not react fast enough the robbers used the knife to torture him until he showed them where the safe was.
“The robbers managed to open the safe before they took the money. They also took the mobile phones of the salesman and two other people that were on the premises while the robbery was in progress.”
The incident report states that a fourth member of the gang waited in a white Toyota Vitz while the other three were pillaging the auto parts shop.
“The robbers fled in the Vitz. No arrests of the suspects or recovery of the stolen money or phones have been made, and the search for the robbery gang continues.”
According to the report, the getaway vehicle did not have any registration plates.
