THE former Mayor of Windhoek and well-known business personality, Matheus Kristof Shikongo has passed away in hospital at the age of 70.
News of Shikongo’s death came late on Thursday evening and ever since then, messages of condolences have been pouring in from around the world.
It was reported that Shikongo was receiving treatment for COVID-19 at the time of his death.
The late Shikongo served as the Mayor of Windhoek during the 1990s and from 2000 to 2010. During his second tenure as Mayor, Shikongo signed a twinning agreement with the City of Berlin in 2000.
