AN incident of uncontrolled rage in the parking lot of the Grove Mall in Windhoek resulted in one person involved in the calamity being charged with attempted murder.
The charge of attempted murder stems from an incident where two men confronted each other at the exit of the shopping centre’s parking lot because one of them misplaced the ticket to exit the structure. The attacker was forced to wait while the victim searched for the small piece of paper.
An argument erupted when the attacker could not control his rage and he pulled out a knife and cut the throat of the 28-year-old Rudolf Steyn from Gobabis, who was on a business visit to Windhoek with his mother.

Security guards on duty at the parking lot saw the entire incident and apprehended the knife-wielding attacker and detained him until members of the Namibian Police arrived at the scene to formally arrest him.
Steyn was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of a Windhoek hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Although the gash in Steyn’s throat was very deep, his attacker’s blade luckily did not sever any vital arteries or organs and after he was stitched up he was discharged from the hospital. He was allowed to return to the farm situated in the area of Gobabis on the same day as the vicious attack.
The attacker has already made his first appearance before a Windhoek Magistrate on the charge of attempted murder while the investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
