THE murder of the 25-year-old Vevangapi Kandjai during the early hours of Saturday morning led to the arrest of both the suspect and the owner of the tuck shop in Swakopmund.
According to the incident report provided by the Namibian Police in the Erongo Region, Kandjai died after he was stabbed several times with a sharp object.
The incident occurred at the T-40 tuck shop situated in Danger Ashipala Street in the DRC informal settlement of Mondesa in Swakopmund at about 01:00 on Saturday morning.
According to the report, Kandjai and another man got involved in a fight during which he was stabbed in the stomach and on his head.
“The victim sustained life-threatening injuries was rushed to the Swakopmund State Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward,” the report states.
The 34-year-old murder suspect was arrested shortly after the fight.
According to the report, the 33-year-old owner of the T-49 tuck shop was also arrested because he sold alcohol after the evening curfew and without a valid liquor license.
