THE Vice-President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba met with Namibia’s world record breaking athletes, who are currently preparing for the Tokyo Olympics Games, to congratulate and motivate them.
The Olympic Games are scheduled to begin on 23 July and will end on the 8th of August 2021.
Mbumba told the athletes that he was overwhelmed by their stellar performances on the track.
“You are flying the Namibian flag high and I wanted to honour you with the simple gesture of giving you the running shoes of your choice,” Mbumba told the visiting athletes.
The Vice-President said that the brilliant performances by Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, who not only qualified for the Olympic Games but broke two world records in quick succession in the 400m sprint, must inspire other young Namibians to reach for the stars.
The Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Services, Agnes Tjiongarero also joined the ceremony and thanked the athletes for setting such a brilliant example
She implored them to keep flying the Namibian flag high.
