THE 38-year-old Evelin Matua died a brutal death when her 30-year-old boyfriend allegedly slit her throat during a violent quarrel.
The incident occurred at Elavi-B village in the Tsintsabis area of the Oshikoto Region on Tuesday evening.
Regional police commander, Commissioner Armas Shivute, said that the incident happened shortly before 21:00 moments after the suspect arrived at the victim’s homestead directly from the cuca shops.
A quarrel erupted immediately thereafter and Matua fled for her life, but the suspect followed her and caught up with her in the mahangu field where he grabbed her and cut her throat, killing her instantly.
According to Shivute, the two have been in a romantic relationship for about a year and they resided in neighbouring homes.
He noted that the suspect was arrested and the panga that he used to commit the brutal murder was confiscated.
