Home raided for alcohol sale

Maria David

THE Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region has arrested six people for selling alcohol after prohibited hours.

Community Affairs Officer Inspector Thomas Aiyambo said members of Namibian Police from the Ongwediva station who were part of the operation seized the alcohol on Friday.

Aiyambo indicated that the culprits were arrested at a residential address in Extension 11.

“Both the seller and five buyers are in police custody,” he said.

He explained that their arrest was as a result of the culprits selling and buying alcohol outside the prohibited times and against curfew regulations.

Last month, Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, during his COVID-19 update, extended the sale of alcohol from 20:00 to 22:00, while curfew starts from 00:00 to 04:00.
