THE victims of the fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred between Windhoek and Okahandja at the start of the Easter weekend have been identified.
According to the Namibian Police, the people that were killed were on the back of a bakkie that overturned next to the B1 Road on Thursday afternoon.
One of the deceased persons was the nine-year-old Tjaripara Kambato while the two adults are the 42-year-old Emard Ndjaranguru and the 43-year-old Meriam Mutirakuti.
Four other occupants of the Toyota bakkie sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Hospital in Okahandja for emergency medical treatment.
The driver of the Isuzu bakkie was detained for a few hours because the Namibian Police suspected that he might have been under the influence of alcohol.
The three victims died on the scene of the accident that occurred when an Isuzu bakkie crashed into the back of a Toyota bakkie while both vehicles were driving in the direction of Okahandja.
The impact caused the drivers of both vehicles to lose control. The Toyota bakkie swerved off the road and overturned.
