THE 32-year-old Kaanduka Indileni Namibian died after the car she was travelling in overturned at Oshiteyatemo village in the Okalongo Constituency on Saturday.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the incident occurred around 22h20 On Okalongo-Oshikuku main road.
“It is alleged that a driver of a blue Honda Fit, with an Oshakati registration, was driving from Oshikuku towards Okalongo. While in a curve at Oshiteyatemo village, the driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle causing it to overturn,” he said.
Shikongo noted that as a result, the lone passenger was critically injured and was rushed to Oshikuku Roman Catholic Hospital, unfortunately, she died on the way before reaching the hospital.
Meanwhile, Shikongo stated that the 23-year-old driver was seriously injured and was also transported to Oshikuku Catholic hospital in critical condition.
“The body of the deceased person was transported to Okahao police mortuary for post-mortem purposes,” he said.
Shikongo said a criminal case has been registered with the Onandjaba police, but no arrest was made yet as the docket was sent off for a decision to prosecute.
The Police investigation into the matter will continue.
