TO mark International Women’s Day, President Hage Geingob this morning said Namibians should commit to redouble their efforts towards advocating for women’s rights, empowering women and combating the scourge of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
This year’s women’s day is marked under the theme “We Are Strong – Women Leading The Fight Against COVID-19”.
Namibia’s Head of State took to his social media platforms to acknowledge that the fight for women is not over, adding that 2021’s theme was befitting considering the challenges women face globally and the societal obstacles they face in addressing those challenges.
“The theme is indeed a moment to reflect on the many challenges facing women globally and the societal obstacles they have to overcome to address those challenges. In observance, we must therefore commit to redouble our efforts towards advocating for women’s rights, accelerating equitable empowerment of women, eliminating inequalities and combating sexual and gender-based violence,” Geingob said.
