THE health ministry this afternoon announced that 154 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Amongst the new cases, 78 are reportedly males and 76 are females.
Five deaths were also recorded in Walvis Bay, Windhoek, Grootfontein, Keetmanshoop and Okongo, respectively.
Sixty-nine of the positive cases are learners, with 24 from Haudano Senior Secondary in the Oshikuku district, 19 from Mariental High School and the rest are from different schools.
The Oshikuku district cases includes 15 inmates from the Etayi Police Holding Cells.
Four healthcare workers – three from Windhoek district and one from the Onandjokwe district – and three teachers from different schools are also among the positive cases.
Yesterday, 259 confirmed cases were recorded, and four deaths were announced.
On Sunday alone, 188 confirmed cases were reported.
Tomorrow morning, President Hage Geingob will deliver the 25th public briefing on COVID-19 national measures at 10h00.
“Covid-19 is deadly and we should continue to be vigilant. I will provide during the 25th Public Briefing an update about our national response measures against Covid-19. Our unity is our strength. Sanitize, mask up, social distance,” President Geingob announced on social media.
The total cumulative number of confirmed cases currently stands at 37 896, of which 2 058 are active cases.
