A FIGHT about a piece of fried chicken left the 29-year-old Kristian Iipinge with a gunshot wound to both of his legs.
The victim was shot by a family member while they fought about the food at the Iishwali location in Okamalindi village on Wednesday.
Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the incident occurred around 19:00.
According to Shikongo, the incident occurred when the victim confronted the suspect over a piece of chicken meat that the suspect bought and refused to share with the victim, which resulted in the victim insulting the suspect and following him all around while insulting him.
“The suspect allegedly moved from place to place in an attempt to avoid the victim but with no help. Thereafter, the suspect allegedly went to his car where the victim continued following him and slapped the suspect with an open hand while the suspect was busy starting his car,” he said.
Shikongo noted that it then prompted the suspect to get out of the car and to run after the victim. He picked up a brick and started chasing the suspect around. The suspect then drew his pistol and fired a shot at the victim which struck him on both legs.
Shikongo stated that the victim sustained injuries on both legs and was transported to Okahao state hospital for medical attention as he is currently admitted in a serious but stable condition.
Shikongo noted that the suspect was arrested when he surrendered himself at the police station.
