LUCIA Nakadilu Nghidipo, a 32-year-old resident of the Eengwe village in the Ongenga constituency of Ohangwena Region died tragically Monday evening after her boyfriend attacked her with a panga.
The victim died as a result of deep wounds to her head and neck that she sustained when the suspect attacked shortly before midnight.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the Oikalahenye village where the deceased went to visit her 45-year-old boyfriend after the couple went drinking at the local cuca shops.
The suspect was arrested and the murder weapon was also recovered.
He is expected to appear in court soonest on charges of murder and domestic violence.
The brutal murder occurred a day before President Hage Geingob during the official opening of the third session of the Seventh Parliament stated that laws preventing Gender-Based and Sexual Violence must be promulgated as soon as possible to ensure that women in Namibia can start living without fear.
Of late, cases of brutal murder and domestic violence have been piling up in northern Namibia, Ohangwena Region in particular.
