THE Ondonga traditional community is in mourning following the death on Tuesday of Ailly Kazimo Petrus, the matriarch of the Onethika lineage of the royal clan and senior traditional councillor for the Omulondo district.
The passing on of Kuku Kazimo – as Petrus was affectionately known – was announced by the chairman of the Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA), Vilho Kamanya, in a text message distributed to traditional leaders.
“With great sadness the OTA announces the passing on of Kuku Ailly Kazimo Petrus, a member of the OTA and head of the Omulondo district, who passed away the 2nd of February 2021. Our condolences go to her children, to the King [Philemon Shuumbwa Nangolo], to the Royal Clan and to all residents of Omulondo,” he said.
It is said that she died at her royal homestead in the Omulondo district of Ondonga.
A royal family spokesperson said that the family is currently settling in and needs time before talking to the media.
Meanwhile, messages of condolences are pouring in.
The head of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority, Chief Herman Ipumbu, said that he is sending a personal envoy to deliver his message of condolences to King Nangolo and the royal family.
Speaking on behalf of Queen Martha Mwadinomho Kristian Nelumbu of Oukwanyama, senior traditional councillor George Nelulu expressed sincere condolences on the death of Kuku Kazimo and wished King Nangolo and the royal family strength in this hour of grief.
