THE latest COVID-19 figures reveal a cluster infection at a Divundu prison in the Kavango East Region.
According to today’s health update by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, a total 113 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Kavango East Region alone over the past 24 hours out a total of 308 new cases.
From the confirmed cases in the Kavango East Region, 95 are inmates from the Divundu correctional facility.
Dr. Shangula further reported 778 new recoveries, which brings the total number of recoveries to 31 210.
The total number of active cases currently stands at 1 717, of which 164 are hospitalised and 21 are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
The health minister also reported four deaths, one each from Windhoek, Keetmanshoop, Otjiwarongo and Walvis Bay.
