Rain and destruction

Rain and destruction

Samuel N. Shinedhima

CONTINOUS flooding of riverbeds, low lying areas and hillside developments in Windhoek is causing traffic havoc through road closures and urgent repairs. With the bulk of the rain still expected next month, storage dams in the central parts of Namibia are filled beyond capacity with a trail of damaged infrastructure growing longer by the day. Windhoek residents are warned to be on the lookout for flash floods that can occur in an instant and trap people and cars in riverbeds.
