FLOODWATER from thundershowers, where more than 100 millimetres of rain were measured in and around Otavi since Friday, has inundated the warehouse of Namib Mills causing extensive damage.
The water ran ankle-deep through the warehouse where several tonnes of flour and other products are stored.
The heavy rains also flood the road into and out of the town causing hazardous driving conditions.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Service the widespread thundershowers, where more than 50 millimetres of rains can be expected are set to continue tomorrow.
Residents of the Oshikoto, Kavango, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Khomas and Hardap regions can expect heavy rain. The rainy conditions are expected to continue on Monday.
Foggy weather conditions are also expected in the central, eastern and north eastern parts of the country on Sunday and motorists are requested to take the necessary precautions when driving in low visibility conditions.
Residents at the coast can expect partly cloudy and cool to warm weather conditions with fog patches in the morning.
