A CRIMINAL case of housebreaking and theft and a case of malicious damage to property is being investigated after burglars vandalised the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) at Ombongodhiya on Monday.
Omusati Regional Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the burglars not only broke into the church to steal some valuable items they also set fire to parts of the building.
“The suspects broke into the church office using unknown objects to gain entry, burned the office and some of the amenities that were inside to ashes,” said Shikongo.
Shikongo indicated that the suspected got away with one laptop computer, speakers, two bottles of wine used for holy communion rituals, two tablet computers, collar rope, and books.
Besides the damage to the church building, the value of the stolen items is valued at N$24 800.
