PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has sent a message of condolence to the family of Cleophas Mutjavikua, the former Governor of the Erongo Region passed away in a Grootfontein hospital.
“I have learned with sadness about the passing of former Governor Mutjavikua. By mobilizing the Trade Union movement, Comrade Mutjavikua played an important role in the liberation of Namibia from Apartheid occupation. His contributions to building an independent Namibia in various capacities, including as Governor of the Erongo Region are noteworthy,” Dr. Geingob said in his message.
Dr. Geingob extended sincere condolences to Governor Mutjavikua’s wife, his children, and his family on behalf of the Namibian Government.
It s understood that former Governor Mutjavikua was admitted to the hospital in Grootfontein after experiencing complications while spending time in isolation after recently receiving a positive COVID-19 test result.
