THREE men accused of raping an 11-year-old girl at her home in the Block E residential area of Rehoboth the past six months have been arrested.
Chief Inspector Pendukeni Haikali, a spokesperson of the Namibian Police confirmed the arrest of the three suspects aged 48, 57, and 76 to Informanté. She said that the three suspects were arrested on Christmas Eve.
The victim’s grandfather reported the ongoing rape of the little girl to the Namibian Police in Rehoboth and the suspects that live in the same residential area were arrested on the same day.
In a statement made to the police, the grandfather said that the three men came to the house on various occasions between June and December this year where they raped the child on numerous occasions.
“The suspects are not related to the victim but is only known to her as they are staying in the same neighbourhood,” Chief Inspector Haikali said.
The three men accused of the rape is scheduled to appear in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s court on charges of rape and charges related to the Combating of Gender-Based Violence Act.
