PAULINA Haufiku (33), who stands accused of murdering two of her children, might not set foot on Namibian soil again after it was revealed that there is no extradition agreement between Namibia and Ethiopia.
Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to Ethiopia and the country’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Emilia Mkusa said the Namibian mission in Ethiopia has embarked on the process to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies of the two children that were murdered by Haufiku in Addis Ababa on Saturday.
Mukusa stated that the accused person is the wife of Namibia’s economic attaché at the diplomatic mission.
The ambassador also confirmed that the accused person already made an appearance in an Addis Ababa court on charges of murder. Haufiku was released from the hospital to which she was admitted before the court appearance and is currently in the custody of the Addis Ababa police.
“The entire staff of the mission and I were shocked by this unfortunate incident. We can only extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Mkusa said
