TRAGEDY struck at a privately owned fun park for children in Windhoek when a six-year-old boy drowned in a pool while playing with others.
According to a member of the emergency services that attempted to resuscitate the little boy, the little boy drowned after another child fell on top of him in a pool at the bottom of a water slide.
The tragic incident occurred at about 13:30 this afternoon.
“It seems that people only realised that something was wrong when another child told one of the adults that the little boy is floating at the bottom of the pool,” he said.
The first responder said that paramedics attempted to resuscitate the little boy but to no avail. They had no choice but to declare the child dead next to the pool where he was found.
According to the first responder the child was brought to the fun park by a 25-year-old man while his parents were at home.
“The babysitter was busy on his phone when the tragedy occurred and did not realize or notice that the little boy was in trouble,” he said.
The police were notified of the drowning and an investigation into the unfortunate incident has been launched.
