THE Namibian Police is searching for a suspect allegedly involved in a hit-and-run where the 38-year-old Immanuel Indongo, from the Onkani village in the Otamanzi constituency, was killed.
Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo said the incident occurred at an unknown time during Tuesday night.
“It is alleged that the driver of an unknown vehicle was driving on the main tarred road between Oshikuku and Elim from north to south near the Iiyale village and struck the pedestrian that was walking in the road,” he said.
According to Shikongo, the pedestrian died on the scene. The lifeless body was only discovered by road users when the sun rose on Wednesday morning. The police were notified accordingly.
“The unknown driver failed to stop the vehicle to ascertain the nature and extent of injuries of the pedestrian after the accident,” said Shikongo.
Shikongo requested any person who might have information about the incident to come forward in order for the driver to be traced.
