PRESIDENT Hage Geingob will communicate the latest government decisions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as new national response measures with the Namibian Nation later this afternoon.
Sporadic flare-ups in the numbers of new COVID-19 cases occurred over the past week. At the same time, the number of active cases has continued to decrease significantly.
Fatalities ascribed to the pandemic have seen a slight increase over the past two weeks.
The Presidential announcement comes at a time where most countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are gradually but cautiously opening up their borders in order to get their national economies back to functioning at full capacity while countries in Europe have gone back to blanket lockdowns and stricter preventative measures after a so-called second wave of new infections swept over them.
The address is set to start at 15:00 and will be broadcast live from the Situation Room at State House on the social media platforms of Informenté News.
