Shannon’s ex threatened with machete

A 25-year-old man identified as a relative of the late Shannon Wasserfal has been arrested after he tried to break into the home of the murdered young woman’s boyfriend wielding a machete.

The incident happened in the wake of the funeral of Wasserfal, whose decomposed remains were found in a shallow grave last month in the dunes in Walvis Bay after she went missing earlier this year April.

According to head of media at Nampol, Elifas Kuwinga, the incident happened on Friday, 13 November, at about 16:00, in Kuisebmund.

It is alleged that the 25-year-old man, who was identified as a family member of Wasserfal’s father, gathered a group of friends and went to the home of the 31-year-old man, who was reportedly in a romantic relationship with Wasserfal when she disappeared.

The suspect and his group of friends demanded to talk to the complainant, however, they were denied entry.

The suspect, holding a machete, damaged a wooden door in the process and threatened to kill the complainant.

He, however, failed to gain entry to the house due to a burglar door.

The police was called to the scene and the machete was confiscated from the suspect.

It is not yet clear why the suspect confronted the complainant.

The value of the damaged door is yet to be determined and police investigations continue.
