RESIDENTS of Okahandja today received more than 50 plots from the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development in Ekunde Extension 5 to build homes of their own.
Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, said the area has been fully serviced with over 200 plots for residential purposes, one for school, business plots, and seven open spaces.
Uutoni has called upon young people to start being innovative and to invest their energy in developing the town. He said the time is now for businesses to participate in building the town.
The certificates were handed over by Governor of Otjozondjupa Region James Uerikua and the Minister of Urban and Rural Development.
”We are not here for political play, there are those, but we denounce that, we are not here for jokes, we are here to make sure Okahandja residence benefit equally, fairly and orderly in accordance with the law and procedure” according to Uerikua.
The Governor with his team, commissioned land surveying on the 6th of August, and on the 3rd of September an inspection was completed being exactly 62 days since the last engagement with its residents.
