The Namibian Police in Okahandja needs the public’s help in tracing two prisoners that escaped from the holding cells at the police station almost three weeks ago.
Unona Shilongo and Nande Ambinga both aged 25 are described as dangerous and have been on the run since their escape on the 2nd of September 2020.
According to Inspector Maureen Mbeha, spokesperson of the Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region, Shilongo was awaiting trial on charges of Stock Theft while Ambinga was facing a charge of rape.
“Both are now also facing a charge of escaping from lawful custody,” she said.
The two wanted criminals escaped along with three others by breaking open the bars above their holding cell.
The three other escapees were arrested the day while they were drinking in a shebeen in the 5Rand Informal settlement on the outskirts of Okahandja.
Any person who might have information about the whereabouts of Shilongo or Ambinga is requested to contact Detective Inspector Maletsky at 081 272 4527, Detective Inspector Gray at 081 277 4385, or the nearest Police Station at 10 111.
