GEORGE Williams Fedha was appointed as the World Food Programme (WFP) Representative in Namibia for a period of four years.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said Fedha will have the overall responsibility of the operational activities of the WFP in the country.
Upon announcing the appointment Nandi-Ndaitwah encouraged Fedha to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and small, medium, and large scale farmers to promote increased local food production.
She stressed the need for the inclusion of the youth and women in the agricultural sector in the country.
Fedha indicated that he will be available to work with everybody who is involved in the food industry to help Namibia contribute to the achievement of Zero-Hunger by 2030.
He committed to work with all regional councils and constituencies in the country in promoting programmes aimed at promoting increased food production.
