Okuryangava market open for business

Staff Reporter

AN estimated seventy traders will have an opportunity to use the trading space available at the Okuryangava open market following its completion.

City of Windhoek Mayor, Fransina Kahungu, today handed over the recently completed open market to the Office of the CEO in order to facilitate the process of trade.

Kahungu said final preparations will be made to allow around 70 traders to use the open market to sell their products.

Kahungu called on Windhoek residents to donate unused or unwanted building materials to the City of Windhoek for the purpose of upgrading and constructing other open markets in the Capital.

She added that the City is trying to revive trade by ensuring that vendors can resume business in a clean and safe business environment.

According to Kahungu, various trading areas have been identified to relocate vendors around the Capital, many of who are trading in conditions that are not conducive, especially in the wake of the global pandemic, COVID-19.
