RESIDENTS of Eenhana owe the town council N$20 million for municipal services that has been carried over from the 2019/20 financial year that ended in June.
Mayor Amos Nangolo, made the revelation on Tuesday, during the tabling of the town’s 2020/21 financial budget.
According to the Mayor, as of late, their clients owe the town council about N$20 million.
“This is a huge amount and it’s continuous absence in our coffers make a huge dent on our ability to deliver the necessary services to the residents,” Nangolo said.
Nangolo called on the debtors to settle their debts so that council will be enabled to sustain and deliver continuous municipal services.
Moreover, he urged the council’s finance department to come up with innovative, aggressive yet customer friendly manner of collecting or recovering such debts and to ensure that the trend is addressed and prevented from spreading further.
