AIR Vice Marshal Teofelus Shaende was appointed as the new commander of the Namibian Air Force and was officially inaugurated during a ceremony held at Karibib.
Air Vice Marshal (AVM) took the reins at the air force after Air Marshal Martin Kambulu Pinehas was appointed the Chief of Defence Force earlier this year. AVM Shaende has been serving as the Deputy Air Force Commander since 2016.
Speaking at their Change of Command Parade held at the Karibib Air Force Base before the weekend the outgoing air force commander, thanked the incumbent for his commitment, dedication and passion of the earlier pioneers, who have managed to lay a strong foundation for further development of the Air Force.
“As we relinquish command to the younger generation, we urge you to emulate the courage, bravery, commitment, dedication, discipline and passion demonstrated by those who came before you”, Air Marshal Pinehas said.
Air Vice Marshal Shaende was promoted to the commander of the air force on the 1st of June 2020 while Air Commodore Abed Hihepa was appointed as his deputy at the same time.
