PETRUS Uugwanga, the Managing Director of Agricultural Business Development Agency (Agribusdev) has been suspended with immediate effect.
In a statement issued by Sophia Kasheeta, AgriBusDev’s Board Chairperson on Monday, the suspension will pave way for an unhindered investigation into allegations levelled against the suspended managing director.
It was reported that Uugwanga was implicated in the flouting of bid requirements that resulted in the tender being awarded to Riaan Fokkens, a former consultant of the agency.
Kasheeta revealed that the agriculture ministry as well as the public enterprise ministry were consulted before that suspension of Uugwanga could be finalised.
A few days ago Uugwanga was quoted as saying that AgriBusDev does not have enough funds to pay the salaries of Greenscheme workers.
