HEITA Nestor Aipinge, the 66-year-old headman of the Okathitu Kakahala Village which falls under the Ombalantu Traditional Authority in the Omusati Region, committed suicide by shooting himself.
The deceased, who is a retired Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly and a well-known businessman, took his own life on Monday
The spokesperson of the Ombalantu Traditional Authority, Angula Kanelombe, confirmed the incident and said that the OTA is busy preparing a message of condolences to the bereaved family.
NamPol spokesperson Warrant Officer Anna Kunga also confirmed Aipinge’s death saying that he shot himself in the chest with a 9mm Makarov pistol.
According to Kunga, the motive for killing himself is still unknown as he did not leave a suicide note.
“The body was transported to Outapi State Hospital from where it will be be taken to Okahao for a post-mortem examination to be performed,” she said.
Kunga stated that police investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
