THE 28-year-old Mokahwa Frans Mwaetako Aikokola, who stands accused of stabbing another man to death at the Rionda Janeiro Bar in Outapi, made his first court appearance at Outapi Magistrate Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder.
Magistrate Eden Amutenya, postponed the case to 10 March 2020 for the investigation in the matter to be concluded and for the accused to apply for legal aid. Aikokola was remanded in custody at Outapi Police Holding Cells.
Inspector Lineekela Shikongo of NamPol’s Public Relation Divisions in Omusati Region said that the incident occurred on Monday around 19h25 at Rio De Janeiro Shebeen Onhimbu Location in Outapi.
“It is alleged that, a fight broke out between the two men at the location and as a result, the suspect drew out a knife and stabbed the victim with it in the chest, which subsequently led to his death on the spot,” said Shikongo.
Shikongo stated that it is not yet established as to why they were fighting.
He identified the deceased as Shishiveni Martin David, an Angolan national, who was residing at Okadhila village near Outapi, but who is originally from Omuuluulu Village in the Omulondo area of the Kunene Province in Angola.
