The Namibian Ports Authority responded positively to the plight of men and women in uniform who will be responsible for manning roadblocks and police checkpoints during the Festive Season.
In this regard Namport donated 42 cases of bottled water to ensure that the officers are refreshed executing their duties with diligence at the permanent roadblocks on the outskirts of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Chief Inspector Patrick Muhita said during the handover that Namport is the fourth company to join in as a sponsor for this Festive Season. He added that initiatives of this nature serve as tokens of encouragement to the officers as they usually work long hours.
The roadblock which operates from the Yanni Savva Police Station will conduct operations focusing on roadworthiness of vehicles, driver fitness as well as general vehicle inspection.
Partners in road safety launched the annual Festive Season road safety campaign which runs from 18 November 2019 until 15 January 2020 as a way to inculcate a road safety culture in all road users.
