Cow causes accident in Kavango West

Eba Kandovazu

LIVESTOCK alongside Namibian roads continue to be a contributing factor to the rise in motor vehicle accidents, with the latest incident occurring at the Kamboho village in the Kavango West Region.

According to an emergency response official, the driver of a pickup truck bumped a cow this morning, leading to the animal’s instant death.

The driver, however, survived but with serious injuries and was transported to the Rundu state hospital for treatment. The man is reportedly in a stable condition.

“The damage to the truck is intense because the impact was hard. We understand it is drought but farmers should carefully monitor those animals, especially the ones around or near roads,” a Paramedic said.

Meanwhile, in another road accident, two vehicles collided head on between Usakos and Karibib this morning.

Although serious damage was done to the vehicles, no fatalities were reported and the victims escaped with slight injuries.
