Pedestrian killed by car near Okalonda

THE 28-year-old Shikambe Absalom Hafeni was killed after he allegedly stepped in front of an oncoming vehicle near the Okalonda location on the Outapi-Oshakati main road on Sunday morning.

 

Omusati Regional police spokesperson, Inspector Linekela Shikongo, said the incident occurred at around 05:30 in the Anamulenge Constituency.

 

“It is alleged that the driver of a white Toyota Hilux, was travelling towards Outapi when she struck a pedestrian who allegedly stepped into the road on purpose. As a result the pedestrian sustained serious injuries that led to his death on the spot,” said Shikongo.

He said the deceased person was from the Okapuku village in the Anamulenge Constituency.

 

“The 57-year-old driver from Valombola, Ongwediva has a valid driver’s licence,” Shikongo noted.

 

According to Shikongo, no arrest was made in the case, due to pending investigations and the decision from the Prosecutor General’s office.
