A BRILLIANT campaign at the M1 Nations Cup in Singapore put the Namibian national netball team in the position to walk away as the champions of the tournament when they take on the host nation on Saturday.
The Desert Jewells is the only team that went through the tournament undefeated. They drew their first match against Singapore during the opening game of the tournament but won every other match that followed putting them at the top of the points log.
The Namibians beat the ladies from Botswana in their final group match earlier on Friday with 54 – 47 after a day of rest on Thursday. It was a very closely contested match between the only two African nations competing in Singapore.
The Desert Jewells ranked at number 33 in the world, attained third place when they participated in the Nations Cup seven years ago. A victory against Singapore, ranked at 28, will mean that they will be the tournament champions.
Botswana will take on the Cook Islands for the third spot while Papua New Guinea will meet Ireland for fifth spot.
