Police spokesperson Lineekela Shikongo said that Li Kaiwei, who is originally from Fu Jian in China and who was working and staying at Outapi, was swimming in the Etaka Dam apparently to cool off due to the current heat wave, when he drowned at around 16:00.

Shikongo said that the deceased was in the company of other Chinese nationals but he was the only one who was swimming.
