RESIDENTS of several towns in the northern parts of Namibia were seen rejoicing over the first showers of rain that fell on Saturday.
Despite the prevailing drought the country is facing, some of the people told Informanté that the rain bring a sense of relief.
“Thank God it is finally raining. This shows that the Lord has not forgotten us,” said Rejoice Haitembu, a resident of Ongwediva, who spoke to Informanté.
Another person, Martin Iilongo said that there is hope for ploughing this season and getting the fields ready.
Oshakati also received a welcome shower late on Saturday afternoon.
It was only a few drops but they are a sign of hope to residents.
