NAMIBIANS from all walks of life celebrated as the good news broke that that the first rain of the new season has fallen in northern Namibia and fact that more rain is forecast for Sunday drove hope for a good rainy season even higher.
Besides the showers in the north more isolated thundershowers were reported to the east of Windhoek and in the area of Otjiwarongo.
Rain clouds were spread from the far south west corner of the country to the north. An Infrared map of Southern Africa shows that rain was possible over Oshana, Omusati, Otjozondjupa, Omaheke, Khomas-east and Hardap-east Regions.
According to the Namibia Meteorological Service more thundershowers are possible on Sunday. A 40 percent chance of rain is forecast for parts over the north, central and south western parts of the country.
Partly cloudy and hot to very hot conditions with a few thundershowers over the south western, central and northern areas are predicted. Windy weather will persist in the interior.
Partly cloudy and cold to cool conditions with fog patches at first, are in the forecast for the coast.
