THE Namibian Police in the Omusati Region have directed a stern warning to motor vehicle owners who allow their cars to be driven by unlicensed people, saying that such a practice is illegal and dangerous not only to the unlicensed drivers themselves but also to their passengers and other road users.
The warning comes after an unlicensed driver died in a motor accident Tuesday evening.
It is reported that the 28-year-old Komeya Johannes Kaweelakana was driving a white Toyota Corolla (N 1961 RU) from the direction of Outapi towards the direction of Oshakati when he lost control of the vehicle which then left the road and overturned.
According to police spokesperson Lineekela Shikongo, the accident happened near the Omugongo location in the Oshitalamesho village at around 20:00.
Kaweelakana died on the spot but his male passenger Joseph Uupindi survived without scratch.
