THE body of a dead baby girl was discovered in NamWater’s water canal between Ogongo and Oshakati Tuesday afternoon and the Namibian police are now asking members of the community to help trace the murder suspect.
“We appeal to the public to help us solve this heinous crime,” said police spokesperson Lineekela Shikongo.
He noted that the dead body of a baby girl of unknown age was found floating in the water in the Eembumba village in the Oshikuku constituency by an unidentified man who walked to the water canal to quench his thirst.
Although the water in the canal is clearly not fit for human consumption, many residents do drink from the open canal due to lack of potable water in some areas in the north.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the murder suspect is requested to contact the nearest police station or call detective Warrant Officer Iithete on cell phone 081 210 1616
