FOUR lions have been found dead in the Sesfontein area due to poisoning.
The gruesome discovery on Saturday resulted in the arrest of three men after law enforcement tracked footprints found at the scene.
The suspects are set to appear in court tomorrow for killing the endangered species.
According to the police, the men allegedly killed three lions and a lioness by poisoning meat and placing it in the wild as bait.
It is further alleged that footprints leading to a house nearby uncovered the remains of a zebra and an oryx that were killed by the perpetrators to use as bait for the lions.
“The game meat was hidden and the shoes that matched the footprints were also found at the house. Three men were arrested and police investigations continue,” Nampol Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said.
