LEGENDARY Springbok rugby player, Kobus Wiese, has returned to Namibia to launch his new business venture, the Dulce Café franchise in Windhoek.
In his rugby heyday Wiese was part of the Sringbok team that won the Rugby World Cup in 1995. After hanging up his boots for good in 1996 he ventured into the coffee business and became a sport consultant as well as a popular television sports presenter.
Wiese played in the South African provincial Currie Cup for the Golden Lions formerly known as Transvaal, in what is considered the strongest team ever fielded by the province. The 1993 Lions team won the Super 10 championship, Lion Cup and the Currie Cup.
Wiese made his debut for the Springboks in the first official test against France in 1993 before going on to win the World Cup against New Zealand in 1995.
The former rugby legend arrived in Windhoek to launch the new café in the Namibian capital. He is also the owner of Wiesenhof and the coffee-roasting factory Wiesenhof Coffee Holdings Group.
His Namibian business partner, Esmé Izaaks, a Master’s of Business Administration holder will join in on the launch.
Born and raised in Rehoboth, she completed her Bachelor of Accounting Degree at the University of Namibia and her Masters of Business Administration at the Management College of Southern Africa in 2013.
Izaaks started her career in banking in 2002 and progressed to senior management through the various roles held in Risk Management at two National Financial Institutions.
